Brazil's S11D iron ore exports increased by 41% in the first quarter

In the first quarter of this year, Brazil's Vale's S11D iron ore exports in the state of Pará were 15.9 million tons, up 41% from 11.3 million tons in the same period last year. Exports were $798 million, an increase of 41% from $566 million in the same period last year. In 2018, the S11D iron ore export volume was 59.4 million tons, and the export volume was 2.87 billion US dollars. The mine was put into operation in December 2016, and the export volume in January 2017 was 26,500 tons. In May 2018, Vale predicted that the S11D iron ore production will be 70-80 million tons in 2019 and 90 million tons in 2020. In December 2018, Vale confirmed that it will invest 770 million US dollars to expand the S11D iron ore. It is planned to reach 100 million tons by 2022.
