Nippon Steel Stainless Steel Co., Ltd. recently announced that the domestic sales price of nickel-based, chrome-based cold-rolled stainless steel sheets and plate in July 2019 was the same as last month. Among them, the base price of nickel-based cold-rolled stainless steel sheet and medium-thick plate is increased by 5,000 yen per ton due to the increase in transportation costs, and the alloy surcharge is reduced by 5,000 yen per ton; the base price and alloy of chromium-based cold-rolled stainless steel sheet The surcharges remain unchanged. This is the first time that nickel base stainless steel prices have risen since March 2018.
During the period from May to June 2019, the international nickel price continued to decrease from 5.63 US dollars/lb in the previous period (April-May 2019) to 5.44 US dollars/lb. The average price of ferrochrome contract was maintained at 128 US cents/lb Chromium. The yuan continued to increase in value (the exchange rate against the US dollar dropped from 111.80 in the previous period to 109.99), and the import cost of nickel and chromium raw materials decreased.
