Brazilian iron ore exports fell by 16.2% in May

Statistics from the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Trade show that in May, the country’s iron ore exports were 29 million tons, down 16.2% year-on-year. The export price was US$65.50/ton, up 38.2% from US$47.40/ton in the same period last year. Exports were $1.9 billion, an increase of 15.8%.
The export volume of flat rolled steel was 648,100 tons, an increase of 270%. The average export price was US$569/ton, down 24.1% from US$750/ton in the same period last year. Exports were $369 million, an increase of 181%.
The export volume of semi-finished steel products was 829,400 tons, an increase of 83.3%. The average export price was $538/ton, down 1.12%. The export value was 446 million US dollars, an increase of 97.4%.
